Borussia Dortmund secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Sporting CP in a thrilling match at Lisbon’s Estádio José Alvalade, part of the 2024 UEFA Champions League Knockout Round Play-offs. The game, officiated by Norway’s Espen Eskas, saw a high tempo and greater possession for the German side (54%). While Sporting CP managed 13 shots (6 on target), Dortmund’s efficiency proved decisive. Goals arrived in the second half: Guirassy broke the deadlock in the 60th minute, assisted by Brandt. Gross then extended the lead in the 68th, with an assist from Guirassy, and Adeyemi sealed the win in the 82nd minute, also assisted by Brandt. Sporting CP received one yellow card, as did Borussia Dortmund. Despite Sporting’s attempts, Dortmund’s defensive solidity and attacking prowess proved key to their victory.
