Malmö FF and Galatasaray played a thrilling match at Malmö’s Eleda Stadion on December 12th, 2024, in the sixth matchday of the UEFA Europa League group stage. The match, refereed by John Brooks of England, ended with a 3-2 victory for the home team.
Malmö FF took the lead with a goal from E. Botheim in the 24th minute, assisted by J. Stryger Larsen. However, Galatasaray responded quickly and equalised with a goal from E. Jelert in the 43rd minute, assisted by K. Demirbay. The Turkish team went ahead in the 56th minute with a goal from Y. Akgun, assisted by D. Mertens. Malmö FF, however, fought back and equalised in the 90th minute with a goal from S. Pena, assisted by Busanello. A late goal by S. Pena in the 90th minute sealed the victory for Malmö FF. The game was marked by its intensity, with numerous fouls from both teams and yellow cards shown to players on both sides. Malmö FF had more possession (48%), but Galatasaray were more accurate in their shots on target (5 out of 9).
