Rotherham Beats Tranmere in Thrilling EFL Trophy Clash
Rotherham United emerged victorious against Tranmere Rovers with a 4-3 win in a dramatic EFL Trophy match at the AESSEAL New York Stadium in Rotherham, South Yorkshire on December 10th, 2024. The second round encounter was a rollercoaster ride, with both teams trading goals throughout the game.
Rotherham took an early lead with a 24th-minute penalty converted by J. Clarke-Harris. Z. Jules doubled the lead for the home side in the 48th minute. Despite Tranmere enjoying slightly more possession (54% to 46%), Rotherham proved more clinical in front of goal, registering 15 shots (6 on target) compared to Tranmere’s 10 (4 on target). Both teams received one yellow card each, with Tranmere finishing the game with ten men due to Bradshaw’s dismissal.
