Corinthians defeated Grêmio 3-0 in a thrilling match at Arena do Grêmio, Porto Alegre, on December 8th, 2024, in the 38th round of the Brazilian Serie A. A tense game marked by numerous yellow cards and two red cards ended with a resounding victory for the visiting team.
Yuri Alberto opened the scoring for Corinthians in the 45th minute from a penalty. In the closing stages of the game, Charles (88′) and Memphis Depay (90′) sealed the Corinthians victory. The match was characterized by Corinthians’ dominance in possession (65% compared to Grêmio’s 35%), also reflected in a higher number of shots on target (6 vs 4). Although Grêmio had more total shots (17 vs 19), greater accuracy defined the encounter. Referee Paulo Cesar Zanovelli da Silva, from Brazil, showed numerous cards, two yellows to each team and one red to players from both sides. The expulsion of Dodi for Grêmio and J.
