Central Córdoba thrashed Racing Club in a thrilling match played at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero. The game, corresponding to matchday 26 of the second phase of the 2024 Argentine Professional League, ended with a resounding 4-1 victory for the home team.
Francisco Cabral was the man of the match, scoring two goals (one from a missed penalty that ended up in the net and another from open play) and assisting on two others. Luciano Angulo also had an outstanding performance, scoring two goals. Central Córdoba’s first goal came in the 17th minute from a missed Cabral penalty that ended in a goal, assisted by Cabral himself. In the 28th minute, Cabral scored again, this time assisted by Angulo. Before the break, Angulo extended the lead for the home side in the 45th minute, assisted by Cabral. In the second half, Angulo completed his brace in the 51st minute, assisted by Segovia. Racing pulled one back in the 61st minute with a goal from Agustín García. Despite the goal, Central Córdoba controlled the game and earned a deserved victory.
Racing Club had more possession (60%), but Central Córdoba was more effective in front of goal, with 14 shots (7 on target) compared to Racing’s 15 (4 on target). Racing accumulated three yellow cards, while Central Córdoba received none.
