Sanfrecce Hiroshima Rout Consadole Sapporo in Thrilling Match
Hiroshima, Japan – In a thrilling encounter at Edion Peace Wing Hiroshima, Sanfrecce Hiroshima secured a convincing 5-2 victory over Consadole Sapporo in the 37th round of the 2024 J1 League. Despite Consadole Sapporo enjoying more possession (54%), Hiroshima’s clinical finishing proved decisive.
Hiroshima took the lead early through M. Kato (8′), assisted by S. Higashi. Consadole Sapporo leveled before halftime with a goal from M. Suzuki (42′). However, Higashi (45′) restored Hiroshima’s lead before the break, making it 2-1.
The second half continued at a high tempo. T. Arslan (53′) extended Hiroshima’s advantage with a penalty, while Sotiriou’s brace (79′ and 88′) sealed the victory for the home side. Consadole Sapporo managed a late goal but couldn’t prevent the defeat.
Despite dominating possession, Consadole Sapporo only managed one shot on target. Hiroshima, on the other hand, fired 19 shots, 10 of which were on target. The match was relatively disciplined, with only two yellow cards shown to Consadole Sapporo and none to Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
