Espanyol defeated Celta Vigo in a thrilling match at the RCDE Stadium in Cornellà de Llobregat. The game, corresponding to matchday 15 of La Liga 2024, ended with a 3-1 victory for the home side.
Espanyol, despite having significantly less possession (21%), showed greater efficiency in front of goal. Iván Cardona opened the scoring in the 40th minute with an assist from Leandro Cabrera. However, the visitors’ joy was short-lived, as a goal by Walid Cheddira in the 87th minute sealed Espanyol’s victory.
The match was marked by yellow cards. Celta received two cautions (Martín Alonso and Hugo Álvarez), while Espanyol received four (Mateo Kumbulla, Javi García, Martín González), reflecting a hard-fought encounter.
