Grazer AK suffered a crushing defeat against Wolfsberger AC in a thrilling match at the Merkur Arena in Graz. The game, corresponding to matchday 15 of the Austrian Bundesliga, ended with a 3-4 scoreline in favor of the visitors. Grazer AK started strongly, scoring three goals in the first half thanks to D. Maderner, T. Cipot, and M. Gantschnig. However, the expulsion of M. Perchtold in the 28th minute changed the course of the match. Wolfsberger AC, with an overwhelming 76% possession, took advantage of their numerical superiority to mount a comeback in the second half. A penalty converted by D. Atanga and two goals from A. Gattermayer, one in the 83rd minute and another at the very end, sealed the victory for Wolfsberger. An own goal by M. Lang in the final minute added more drama to the encounter. Grazer AK accumulated six yellow cards and two red cards, while Wolfsberger AC received three yellow cards. Despite the superiority in shots on target (6 for Grazer AK against 5 for Wolfsberger AC), the lack of discipline and Wolfsberger AC’s greater possession proved decisive.
