Al-Nassr Cruises to Victory Over Damac in Controversial Match
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Al-Nassr secured a comfortable 2-0 win against Damac in a contentious matchday 12 Pro League 2024 clash at the Al Awal Park at King Saud University. Cristiano Ronaldo starred, scoring two goals – one a penalty (17′) and the other a fine strike (79′) assisted by N. Boushal.
The game was significantly influenced by Damac’s A. Bedrane’s red card in the 57th minute, leaving them a man down for a substantial part of the second half. Several yellow cards were also shown: two to Al-Nassr (S. Mane, N. Boushal) and three to Damac (S. Al Hawsawi, D. Al Anazi, M. Al Nemer).
Despite being down a player, Damac put up a fight, creating several goal-scoring opportunities (5 shots on target). However, Al-Nassr’s superior possession (61%) and higher shot count (16 to 11) ultimately secured them a decisive victory. The refereeing performance by Benoît Bastien of France, particularly the card count, proved to be a talking point of the game.
