Los Angeles Galaxy convincingly defeated Minnesota United FC 7-3 in a thrilling MLS Cup – Conference Semi-finals match played at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California on November 24th, 2024. The game, officiated by Rosendo Mendoza, was a back-and-forth affair from the opening whistle. Gabriel Pec opened the scoring for the Galaxy in the 1st minute, but Yeboah equalized for Minnesota in the 6th. Joveljic (18′) and Paintsil (37′) put the Galaxy up 3-1 before halftime, although Yeboah pulled one back with a penalty in added time.
The second half continued with the same intensity. Pec scored his second goal in the 50th minute, extending the Galaxy’s lead. However, the match became very contentious, with numerous yellow cards issued to both teams. Ultimately, a missed penalty by Pec himself and the sending off of Minnesota’s Diaz failed to derail the Galaxy’s victory. Paintsil (86′) and Joveljic (89′) sealed the Galaxy’s win with two more goals in the closing stages. Despite the loss, Minnesota showed fight and scored three goals, but the Galaxy’s superiority in possession (73% vs 27%) and shots on target (10 vs 6) proved decisive.
