Hamburger SV suffered a defeat against FC Schalke 04 in a thrilling match played at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg on November 23rd, 2024. The final score was 2-3, a game corresponding to matchday 13 of the 2. Bundesliga.
HSV started strongly, scoring two early goals thanks to Moritz Richter (29th minute) and Robert Königsdorffer (30th minute). However, Schalke reacted in the second half. Ayoub Younes pulled one back in the 57th minute, and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar’s goal in the 74th minute completed the comeback for the visitors. Despite having slightly less possession (46% compared to Schalke’s 54%), HSV created more scoring opportunities (18 shots to 9), but only 6 of them were on target. Both teams played a tough game, resulting in two yellow cards each (Katterbach and Poreba for HSV; Seguin and Gruger for Schalke). Karaman’s goal in the 74th minute sealed the victory for Schalke.
