Junior de Barranquilla defeated América de Cali in a hard-fought match at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla. The game, corresponding to the first round of the 2024 Clausura quadrangular of the Colombian Primera A, ended with a narrow 1-0 victory for the Tiburones. Despite América de Cali’s dominance in possession (53%), Junior proved more clinical in attack. A solitary goal by Carlos Bacca in the 13th minute, assisted by Yairo Moreno, proved to be the difference. The goal came from a shot on target that beat the opposing goalkeeper. The match was characterized by its intensity, with numerous fouls from both sides (3 from Junior and 10 from América) and two yellow cards for América de Cali (Carlos Barrios and Deiber Bocanegra) and one for Junior (Andrés Colorado).
