North Macedonia Edges Out Faroe Islands in Hard-Fought Victory in Skopje
Skopje, November 17, 2024 – North Macedonia secured a 1-0 win over the Faroe Islands in a tense UEFA Nations League C Group match at the Toše Proeski Arena. The game, officiated by Daniel Schlager (Germany), saw North Macedonia dominate possession but struggle to break down a stubborn Faroese defense.
North Macedonia enjoyed 65% possession compared to the Faroe Islands’ 35%, registering 8 shots (2 on target) to the Faroe Islands’ 3 (1 on target). The only goal of the match arrived in the 62nd minute, courtesy of Bojan Miovski, assisted by Jovche Atanasov.
The match was punctuated by a flurry of yellow cards. Ilijan Alimi (13′), Enis Bardhi (52′), Ezgjan Alioski (66′), Nikola Serafimov (73′), and Martin Ristovski (90′) were all booked for North Macedonia, while Pál Knudsen (51′) received a yellow card for the Faroe Islands.
Despite their clear dominance in possession and shots, North Macedonia’s lack of clinical finishing made for a nervy finish. The Faroe Islands’ resolute defense and the numerous yellow cards picked up by the home side kept the game interesting until the final whistle.
