Goias crushes Amazonas with a resounding 4-0 victory in Manaus
Manaus, Amazonas – Goiás achieved a crushing victory over Amazonas this Saturday, November 16th at the Estádio Municipal Carlos Zamith, winning by a score of 4-0 in a match corresponding to matchday 37 of the 2024 Brazilian Serie B Championship. The referee was Gustavo Ervino Bauermann.
Goiás dominated the scoreboard early on. Ian Luccas opened the scoring in the 6th minute, followed by Marcao Silva in the 16th and Paulo Baya in the 23rd, leaving Amazonas with a difficult uphill battle. Despite Amazonas’ overwhelming possession of the ball (66%), Goiás demonstrated greater effectiveness in attack. Sander sealed the victory with a goal in the 76th minute.
While Amazonas attempted to approach the opponent’s goal with 23 shots, only 4 were on target. Goiás, with 15 shots, achieved much greater accuracy, placing 10 shots on target. The yellow card to Sander for Goiás was the only caution of the match. Despite the possession, Amazonas failed to capitalize on any of their scoring chances, and Goiás deservedly took all three points.
