Fenerbahçe defeats Zenit in a thrilling friendly match
İstanbul witnessed a thrilling friendly match between Fenerbahçe and Zenit Saint Petersburg last night. The Turkish team triumphed 3-1 in a match that remained competitive until the end. Cenk Tosun opened the scoring for the home side in the 20th minute, assisted by Dusan Tadic. Zenit equalized before halftime with a goal from Aleksandr Erokhin in the 35th minute, assisted by I. Akhmetov. However, Fenerbahçe showed greater effectiveness in the second half, scoring two more goals: the first by Lincoln Mercan (63rd minute), again assisted by Tadic. Despite Zenit having 52% possession, Fenerbahçe was more effective in attack, registering 7 shots with 4 on target. Zenit had 5 shots with only 1 on target. The match, played at the Ülker Stadyumu Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Spor Kompleksi, provided a great spectacle for the fans in attendance.
