Panathinaikos edges past Lamia in tense match
Panathinaikos secured a 1-0 victory over Lamia in a hard-fought Super League 1 clash on Sunday. The match, played at the Olympic Stadium Spyros Louis in Athens, was a tense affair with several yellow cards.
Lamia started brightly and had a few chances to score, but their lack of accuracy prevented them from breaking the deadlock. In the 49th minute, the visiting side suffered a blow when Radonja was sent off for a foul on a Panathinaikos player.
From that moment on, Panathinaikos began to dominate the game and eventually found the back of the net in the 73rd minute. Bakasetas, who had come on as a substitute in the second half, scored with a powerful shot following a skillful individual run.
