Tense game in Kashima with a red card and numerous yellow cards
Kashima and Nagoya Grampus drew 0-0 in a tense match marked by a Kashima player’s red card and a flurry of yellow cards. Discipline on the pitch played a key role in the game’s tempo.
The match took place at the Kashima Soccer Stadium in Kashima and was refereed by Masuya Ueda.
In the early minutes, both teams were cautious and the game remained balanced. However, from minute 53 onwards, the situation changed.
Nagoya Grampus began to press and Kashima was forced to defend. This led to the referee showing yellow cards to three Nagoya Grampus players in just two minutes: T. Morishima in the 53rd, K. Shiihashi in the 58th and K. Mikuni in the 58th.
In response, Kashima tried to react, but Y. Suzuki saw a red card in the 59th for a foul on a Nagoya Grampus player.
The match became even more intense in the following minutes, and the referee had to show another yellow to Kashima, to M. Chugo in the 62nd.
Despite the red card and the accumulation of yellow cards, neither team managed to score and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
Kashima dominated possession (53%) and had more shots on goal (12), although none of them ended in a goal. Nagoya Grampus, for their part, had 7 shots, 2 of them on goal. Kashima also had more corners (4) than Nagoya Grampus (3), but committed fewer fouls (12 to 22).
Despite the result, the match was entertaining and offered a good show for the fans.
