Benfica crushes Rio Ave in a dominant display
Lisbon, Portugal – Benfica dominated Rio Ave in the ninth round of the Primeira Liga, winning 5-0 in a match they controlled from start to finish.
Benfica opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a goal from Kerem Aktürkoglu. The Turkish player scored two more goals before half-time, in the 16th and 45th minutes, to seal a dream first half for the Lisbon side. Benfica controlled possession for most of the match and created numerous scoring chances, while Rio Ave barely managed to get close to the opponent’s goal.
In the second half, Benfica continued their dominance and extended their lead with a goal from Andreas Schjelderup in the 79th minute, assisted by Alejandro Carreras. The fifth and final goal came in the 81st minute, scored by Zine Eddine Amdouni.
