Vasco da Gama beats Cuiabá in a tight match
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Vasco da Gama beat Cuiabá 1-0 in a tense and exciting match at Estádio São Januário. The only goal of the match came in the 53rd minute thanks to Hugo Moura, who took advantage of an assist to score the only goal of the match.
The match was marked by the intensity and fight of both teams for possession of the ball. Cuiabá had more possession (51%) but Vasco da Gama was more effective in attack, with 13 shots (2 on target) compared to Cuiabá’s 12 (2 on target).
Vasco da Gama had to cope with several casualties during the match, with as many as five changes made. Hugo Moura, the scorer, received a yellow card in the 57th minute, while Pedro Vegetti also saw yellow in the 90th minute. Cuiabá, meanwhile, received a yellow card in the 89th minute, from Derik Lacerda.
