Crewe earns a valuable point at Fleetwood
Crewe Alexandra earned a valuable point in their visit to Fleetwood Town, drawing 1-1 in a match that had few goals but plenty of intensity.
The match, played at Highbury Stadium, began with a more incisive Crewe, but it was Fleetwood who dominated possession for most of the game. However, a lack of finishing in attack by the home side prevented them from taking the win.
In the 17th minute, J. Tabiner saw a yellow card for a foul on a Fleetwood player. In the 59th minute, M. Conway also saw yellow for a foul on a Fleetwood player.
The second half started with more pace from both teams.
In the 87th minute, Crewe opened the scoring after a penalty converted by R. Cooney. The goal was the reward for the visiting team’s effort, who managed to withstand Fleetwood’s pressure in the final minutes.
Despite the defeat, Fleetwood Town continues to lead the League Two table.
Crewe, for their part, adds an important point in their fight for survival.
