Genk defeats St. Truiden in a thrilling match
Genk secured a 4-2 victory over St. Truiden in a thrilling Jupiler Pro League match in Belgium. The game, played at the Cegeka Arena in Genk, was marked by intensity and controversy, with a total of six yellow cards and two red cards.
The first goal came in the 18th minute, thanks to a strike from T. Arokodare, assisted by C. Bonsu Baah. Genk extended their lead in the 31st minute with a goal from J. Steuckers, while A. Bertaccini pulled one back for St. Truiden in the 34th minute. Z. El Ouahdi scored the third goal for Genk in the 45th minute, assisted by T. Arokodare.
St. Truiden, however, did not give up and managed to score the second goal in the 58th minute through another goal from A. Bertaccini, assisted by R. Ogawa. Despite the reaction, Genk maintained control of the game and secured the three points with a 4-2 win.
The match was marred by the expulsion of S. Taniguchi from St. Truiden in the 15th minute. B. Brahimi also saw his second yellow card and was sent off at the end of the match, after receiving the first card in the 74th minute.
Genk dominated possession (68%) and had more shots on target (7) than St. Truiden (5). Despite the red cards, Genk’s team managed to maintain their lead and secure an important victory in the Jupiler Pro League.
