Liverpool thrashed West Ham in a thrilling match
Liverpool achieved a resounding 5-1 victory over West Ham in a thrilling match for the third round of the League Cup. The Reds dominated the encounter from the start, generating numerous scoring opportunities and showing greater possession of the ball.
The first goal of the game came in the 21st minute, with an own goal by J. Quansah, who deflected a cross into his own net. However, West Ham did not flinch and managed to equalize the match in the 25th minute, thanks to a shot from Diogo Jota after a precise pass from F. Chiesa.
In the second half, Liverpool regained control of the match and scored three goals in quick succession. Diogo Jota scored his second goal in the 49th minute, following a great assist from C. Jones. Mohamed Salah added his name to the list of scorers in the 74th minute, with a powerful shot that left the opposing goalkeeper with no chance. Finally, Cody Gakpo sealed the victory with two goals in the 90th and 90+1st minutes.
Despite the defeat, West Ham showed moments of good play and had chances to score more goals. However, Liverpool’s defensive actions were more forceful, and the lack of precision in the final meters ended up condemning the visiting team.
The match was marked by the red card that E. Alvarez received in the 76th minute, after a dangerous foul on a Liverpool player.
Liverpool advanced to the next round of the League Cup, while West Ham was eliminated.
