Brighton edges out ten-man Forest in a thrilling encounter
Brighton & Hove Albion overcame Nottingham Forest 3-1 in a pulsating match at the American Express Stadium. Roberto De Zerbi’s side dominated the encounter, enjoying 70% possession and displaying a more fluent game than their opponents.
The match began with a penalty for Nottingham Forest, which Chris Wood converted in the 13th minute. However, Brighton remained undeterred and equalized the game in the 42nd minute with a goal from James Hinshelwood. Danny Welbeck then scored twice in quick succession, in the 45th and 46th minute, to turn the tide of the match.
In the second half, Nottingham Forest were forced to play with ten men after Morgan Gibbs-White was sent off in the 83rd minute. Despite being a man down, Forest pulled one back in the 70th minute with a goal from Rodrigo Sosa.
Brighton, who also saw Gibbs-White and Neco Williams sent off for a brawl in the 83rd minute, comfortably controlled the match to secure the victory.
