Benfica Wins a Hard-Fought Match Against FK Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade
Benfica emerged victorious over FK Crvena Zvezda with a 2-1 win in a thrilling match at the Stadion Rajko Mitić, marking the first game of the UEFA Champions League group stage.
The Portuguese side started strong, taking the lead in the 9th minute through K. Akturkoglu’s goal, assisted by A. Bah. The lead was extended in the 29th minute when O. Kokcu scored the second for Benfica.
FK Crvena Zvezda, however, responded in the second half. In the 86th minute, Milson managed to pull one back, but Benfica defended resolutely and held on for the victory.
