AC Milan vs. Liverpool: Liverpool Wins Convincingly at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
Liverpool beat AC Milan 4-0 in the first matchday of the UEFA Champions League group stage, played at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan.
The match started with a frantic pace. Christian Pulisic opened the scoring for AC Milan in the 3rd minute, following an assist from Álvaro Morata. However, Liverpool responded quickly and equalized in the 23rd minute with a goal from Ibrahima Konate, assisted by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
In the second half, Liverpool took control of the match and scored three more goals to secure the victory. Virgil van Dijk extended the lead in the 41st minute, after an assist from Konstantinos Tsimikas, and Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the triumph with a goal in the 67th minute, with an assist from Cody Gakpo.
Despite the defeat, AC Milan had some scoring opportunities, but they couldn’t overcome Liverpool’s defense. Jurgen Klopp’s side dominated possession (51%) and generated many more scoring chances (23 shots, 11 on goal) than AC Milan (8 shots, 1 on goal).
AC Milan received two yellow cards, while Liverpool received three.
Liverpool’s victory is a great start to the defense of their UEFA Champions League title. AC Milan, on the other hand, will need to improve if they want to have a chance of advancing in the tournament.
