Manchester United thrash Barnsley 8-0 in convincing win
Manchester, England – Manchester United secured a resounding 8-0 victory over Barnsley in the League Cup third round on Tuesday at Old Trafford.
Manchester United’s dominance was evident from the start, with 65% possession and 26 shots, 13 of which were on target. The first goal came in the 16th minute with a strike from Marcus Rashford, assisted by Alejandro Garnacho.
Before halftime, Antony extended the lead with a penalty in the 35th minute and Garnacho scored his first goal in the 45th minute, assisted by Rashford.
In the second half, Manchester United continued their dominance. Garnacho scored his second personal goal in the 49th minute, while Rashford scored his second goal in the 58th minute. Christian Eriksen scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of the game, one in the 81st minute and another in the 85th minute.
Manchester United showcased excellent offensive quality and a solid defense. The final result reflected the superiority of Erik ten Hag’s team.
