Osijek takes victory in a thrilling match
Osijek, Croatia – NK Osijek defeated NK Slaven Belupo 1-0 in a thrilling match played at Opus Arena on Sunday. The only goal of the game came in the 14th minute, thanks to a goal by P. Pusic, assisted by A. Jakupovic.
Osijek dominated possession (48% vs 52% for Slaven Belupo) and created more scoring opportunities (12 shots vs 11 for Slaven Belupo). The home team also had a better performance in terms of shots on goal (4 vs 4 for Slaven Belupo) and was more effective in attack.
Slaven Belupo, in turn, tried to find the equalizer with several attempts, but Osijek’s defense remained solid. The match was marked by a high number of fouls (11 for Osijek and 17 for Slaven Belupo), which created a frenetic pace. Referee Toni Dadic had to show two yellow cards to Osijek and two to Slaven Belupo.
In the end, the victory stayed at home, thanks to a brilliant performance by Osijek, which is positioned in the top half of the HNL table.
