Sassuolo edges out Carrarese with a narrow victory

Sassuolo secured a 2-0 win against Carrarese in a match dominated by the neroverdi in terms of possession and chances created. The encounter, played at the Arena Garibaldi – Stadio Romeo Anconetani in Pisa, was decided in the second half with two goals in the final 15 minutes.

Carrarese tried to hold their own, but their lack of attacking potency and Sassuolo’s effectiveness condemned them. The first goal arrived in the 78th minute when Simone Mulattieri converted a pass from Cristian Volpato to open the scoring.

The second goal came in the 90th minute, thanks to a great play by Mulattieri who set up Karl-Oskar Thorstvedt to seal the victory.

Sassuolo had more possession, with 59%, and generated more scoring opportunities. The neroverdi attempted 15 shots, 7 of them on target, while Carrarese only managed to put 3 shots on goal.

Despite the loss, Carrarese showed a fighting spirit, but were ultimately outmatched by the quality of Sassuolo.
