Monaco crushes Auxerre in a dominant performance
Monaco dominated Auxerre from start to finish at the Stade de l’Abbé Deschamps, scoring three goals and leaving their opponent with little chance of a comeback. Possession of the ball was clearly in favor of the visitors (60% vs 40%) and the shots on goal also reflect the visitors’ superiority: 9 for Monaco, 2 for Auxerre.
The first goal came in the 8th minute, with T. Kehrer scoring assisted by L. Camara. The second goal came in the 25th minute, with Vanderson scoring and D. Zakaria assisting. Zakaria himself scored the third and final goal in the 89th minute, leaving the score at a resounding 3-0.
Auxerre failed to generate any danger in attack and only managed to get two shots on goal during the game. In addition, the home team was forced to play the second half with three players less, after yellow cards received by G. Osho (14′), E. Owusu (43′) and Jubal (45′).
Monaco continues to demonstrate its strength in Ligue 1 and is solidifying itself as one of the title contenders. Auxerre, on the other hand, will need to improve significantly if they want to aspire to anything more than staying up.
