United States defeats New Zealand in a thrilling match
Cincinnati, Ohio – The United States national team beat New Zealand 2-1 in a friendly match played at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. The match was exciting and was marked by the intensity of both teams.
The first half was dominated by the United States, although there were no clear scoring chances. In the 37th minute, New Zealand received the first yellow card of the match for a foul by A. Rufer.
The second half brought more excitement. In the 51st minute, M. Stamenic saw the yellow card for a foul on a US player. Just three minutes later, M. Garbett received the second yellow card for the New Zealanders. The United States took advantage of the numerical superiority and in the 59th minute, L. de la Torre saw the yellow card after a strong tackle.
The match opened up in the 69th minute when Christian Pulisic, who had entered in the 57th minute, scored the first goal of the match after an assist from F. Balogun.
New Zealand responded in the 89th minute with a goal from B. Waine, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.
