HNK Hajduk Split edges out NK Osijek in a tight encounter
HNK Hajduk Split emerged victorious against NK Osijek with a 1-0 win in the fifth round of the Croatian HNL, played at Stadion Poljud in Split.
The match was characterized by intense play and a constant battle for ball possession. NK Osijek had a higher possession percentage (51%), but HNK Hajduk Split managed to capitalize on a single clear scoring opportunity, which resulted in the only goal of the game.
The first half was marked by caution from both teams, with a couple of isolated chances at goal. It was in the 56th minute that HNK Hajduk Split broke the deadlock with a goal from Marko Livaja, assisted by R. Pukstas.
Despite NK Osijek’s efforts to equalize, HNK Hajduk Split defended their lead effectively and managed to maintain the scoreline until the final whistle.
HNK Hajduk Split has thus added three crucial points to their tally, remaining in contention for the top of the table. Meanwhile, NK Osijek will need to reassess their strategy to return to winning ways.
