Ross County 0-1 Aberdeen: Nisbet’s late goal seals victory
Ross County were unable to secure a point at home as Aberdeen secured a narrow 1-0 victory at the Global Energy Stadium on Saturday. The game was a tight affair, with both sides struggling to break down the opposition defense. However, a late goal from substitute Kevin Nisbet proved to be the difference, giving Aberdeen their first win of the season.
The first half saw a flurry of yellow cards as the game became increasingly physical. Ross County’s Charles Randall was the first to be booked in the 8th minute, followed by teammate Keith Lopata in the 36th minute. Aberdeen also picked up a booking in the 41st minute through Jonny MacKenzie, before Ross County’s Ross Hale saw yellow just before the break.
The second half saw a more attacking display from both sides, but chances were few and far between. Ross County had a penalty saved in the 65th minute, while Aberdeen were denied by VAR on two separate occasions, first in the 50th minute and again in the 17th minute. However, with just minutes left on the clock, Aberdeen finally found a way through. Substitute Nisbet, who had come on in the 35th minute, scored a fantastic goal in the 90th minute to secure the win for the visitors.
The stats reflected the close nature of the game. Aberdeen dominated possession with 66% compared to Ross County’s 34%, but both teams had a similar number of shots on target. Aberdeen did, however, create significantly more chances with 12 corners compared to Ross County’s 1.
Overall, it was a frustrating afternoon for Ross County, who remain winless this season. Aberdeen, on the other hand, will be delighted with the three points, which gives them a much-needed boost following a disappointing start to the campaign.
