Leicester thrashes Tranmere in League Cup
Leicester completely dominated the match from start to finish, defeating Tranmere Rovers by a resounding 5-0 in the League Cup second round. The match was played at the King Power Stadium in Leicester, under the direction of referee Lewis Smith.
Leicester’s dominance was reflected in the statistics: 71% possession, 20 shots (8 on target, 7 off target) and 8 corners, compared to Tranmere’s 29% possession, 3 shots (0 on target) and 1 corner.
The first goal came in the 38th minute, thanks to a strike from Jordan Ayew assisted by Harry Winks. In the 50th minute, Leicester striker Stephy Mavididi scored from the penalty spot, extending the lead.
Tranmere couldn’t react, and Leicester continued to increase their advantage. A goal from Wilfred Ndidi in the 71st minute, after an assist from Ayew, and another from Winks in the 90th minute, assisted by Harvey Choudhury, sealed the match.
With this result, Leicester advances to the next round of the League Cup, leaving Tranmere eliminated.
