Universidad Católica defeats Huachipato in an exciting match
Santiago de Chile, August 25, 2024. Universidad Católica earned a resounding 4-0 victory over Huachipato in a vibrant match of the 21st round of the Chilean First Division. The goals came in the second half and were scored by Diego González, Gonzalo Tapia, Cristián Cuevas, and Fernando Zampedri, demonstrating the “Cruzado” team’s superiority.
The first half was marked by an intense and balanced game. Universidad Católica had more of the ball (56% possession) and generated 16 shots, 10 of them on target, although they failed to score in the first 45 minutes. Huachipato responded with 4 shots, 2 on target, but Universidad Católica’s defense proved solid.
The second half was completely different. Universidad Católica came out with more determination and was rewarded with the first goal in the 26th minute, thanks to a shot from Diego González. The second goal came just 11 minutes later, scored by Gonzalo Tapia. The “Cruzado” team was not satisfied with the lead and continued to press, scoring two more goals in the last 15 minutes, through Cristián Cuevas and Fernando Zampedri.
Universidad Católica showed an effective and dynamic game, taking advantage of opportunities and exposing Huachipato’s lack of decisiveness. The victory allows the “Cruzados” to solidify their position at the top of the standings.
