KV Mechelen edges out Antwerp in a hard-fought encounter
KV Mechelen secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Antwerp, courtesy of B. Van den Eynden’s goal in the 42nd minute.
The match began with both sides seeking control from the outset. KV Mechelen struck first through a well-taken goal by B. Van den Eynden, who expertly finished a pass from P. Pflucke. Despite relentless pressure from Antwerp, KV Mechelen held onto their lead until the final whistle.
The match was characterized by numerous yellow cards, with Antwerp receiving four and KV Mechelen three. Referee Nicolas Laforge had to assert his authority on several occasions to keep the players in check.
Despite having less possession, KV Mechelen proved more efficient in attack, recording 13 shots, including four on target, compared to Antwerp’s 17 shots, only three of which found the target.
