Sao Paulo thrashes Club Nacional in an intense match
Sao Paulo, Brazil – Sao Paulo secured a resounding 2-0 victory over Club Nacional in the first leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores round of 16. The match took place on Thursday at the Morumbi, under the supervision of Colombian referee Jhon Alexander Ospina Londono.
The goals for the Brazilian victory came in the first half. Derlis Bobadilla opened the scoring in the 31st minute with an assist from Jonathan Calleri. Calleri himself scored the second goal in the 47th minute, this time assisted by Wellington Rato.
Club Nacional attempted to react but found a well-positioned Sao Paulo defense. The Brazilian team’s dominance translated into 64% possession, 12 shots (5 on target, 4 off target) and 2 corners. Club Nacional, on the other hand, only managed 36% possession, 12 shots (2 on target, 7 off target) and 4 corners.
