IF Elfsborg defeats HNK Rijeka in an exciting match
Borås, Sweden – IF Elfsborg beat HNK Rijeka 2-0 in a UEFA Europa League 3rd qualifying round match played at the Borås Arena.
The match started at a high pace, but it wasn’t until the second half that the goals came. M. Baidoo opened the scoring for the home side in the 68th minute with a shot that the opposing goalkeeper couldn’t stop. A. Qasem scored IF Elfsborg’s second goal in the 83rd minute, capitalizing on an assist from A. Zeneli.
HNK Rijeka tried to react, but the yellow cards received by several players in the second half complicated their plans. In the 89th minute, IF Elfsborg had the chance to increase their lead, but a goal by S. Holmen was ruled out by VAR due to a foul.
IF Elfsborg managed to control the match for most of the game, while HNK Rijeka couldn’t find a way to break through the opposing defense.
