Club América defeats St. Louis City in a thrilling match
Carson, California – Club América secured an epic victory over St. Louis City in the Round of 16 of the Leagues Cup, in a match that was decided in the second half.
The first goal of the match came in the 15th minute, with B. Rodríguez capitalizing on a pass from D. Valdes to put América ahead. However, St. Louis City managed to equalize the match in the 50th minute with a goal from I. Vassilev, followed by a penalty converted by E. Lowen three minutes later.
Club América responded strongly and regained the lead in the 80th minute thanks to a goal from D. Valdes, who had been cautioned with a yellow card in the first half. The Mexican team was not satisfied with the lead and B. Rodríguez scored a penalty in the 84th minute. R. Aguirre put the finishing touch on the victory with a goal in the 90th minute, following an assist from L. Malagon, who also received a yellow card in the final minute.
