Sassuolo edges Cittadella in a thrilling match

Reggio Emilia, Italy – Sassuolo defeated Cittadella 2-1 in a first-round Coppa Italia clash held on Friday at the MAPEI Stadium – Città del Tricolore.

Sassuolo dominated possession for much of the match, but it was Cittadella who opened the scoring in the 48th minute through a goal by E. Baldini. However, Sassuolo responded with two goals in the second half, one by S. Mulattieri in the 45th minute and another by A. Lauriente in the 58th minute, to take the victory.

The match was marked by intensity and scoring chances from both sides, especially in the second half. Sassuolo, with 54% possession and 15 shots, had more scoring opportunities, but Cittadella also put the opponent’s defense under pressure with 9 shots of their own.
