HNK Hajduk Split defeats NK Slaven Belupo in an exciting match
Split, Croatia – HNK Hajduk Split defeated NK Slaven Belupo 2-1 in a match from the first round of the HNL regular season. The match, played at the Stadion Poljud, was marked by intensity and excitement, with goals, cards, and a crucial VAR.
Hajduk dominated possession for much of the match (60%) and was more effective in attack, with 11 shots (3 on target, 3 off target) compared to Slaven Belupo’s 6 (3 on target, 1 off target).
The first goal came in the 18th minute when Marko Livaja scored from the penalty spot, giving Hajduk the lead. However, Slaven Belupo did not give up and managed to equalize in the 45th minute with a goal from Mateo Sakota.
In the second half, Hajduk regained control and took the lead in the 37th minute thanks to a goal from Abdoulie Sanyang, assisted by Livaja. The rest of the match was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams looking for victory. Hajduk managed to hold onto their lead until the end, despite Slaven Belupo’s constant attacks.
The match referee, Zdenko Lovric, showed two yellow cards to Hajduk and four to Slaven Belupo, as well as a red card to Slaven Belupo player, Luka Lucic, in the 90th minute.
The victory allows Hajduk to start the season with a vital win. Slaven Belupo, on the other hand, will have to look for their first win in the next round.
