Cruz Azul dominates possession but Charlotte holds on in a fast-paced game with yellow cards
Cruz Azul dominated possession with a commanding 69% against Charlotte’s 31%, but the game was not without excitement. The intensity was reflected in the yellow cards: two for each team.
The first half was relatively quiet, with both teams trying to impose their game. However, starting in the 54th minute, the pace of the game increased. Rotondi received a yellow card from Cruz Azul, which sparked a reaction from Charlotte, who also saw Westwood and Bronico join the group of cautioned players in the 64th minute.
Cruz Azul, with more possession and opportunities, constantly sought the opponent’s goal, but they found a solid Charlotte defense. Although the Aztecs generated 20 shots, only four of them found the goal, while 12 were deflected.
In the closing minutes, both teams made changes looking for a victory that eluded them. In the end, the game ended in a goalless draw.
