Thrilling Sporting CP Victory in Taça de Portugal After Extra Time
Lisbon witnessed a vibrant match in the Taça de Portugal quarter-finals, where Sporting CP managed to overcome AVS in extra time with a final score of 3-2. The match, played at the Estádio José Alvalade, was characterized by Sporting CP’s overwhelming dominance in possession (73%), although AVS proved dangerous in their limited opportunities.
Luis Guilherme opened the scoring for the home side in the 29th minute, assisted by M. Hjulmand, promising a match dominated by Sporting. However, the second half brought an unexpected twist with an own goal by Paulo Vitor in the 49th minute, leveling the score.
