Millwall Secures Victory in Bristol with Ivanovic Goal
Bristol, England – In a match held at Ashton Gate Stadium, Millwall surprised Bristol City with a 1-0 victory in the 19th round of the Championship. Despite Bristol City’s territorial dominance, holding 68% possession and generating 10 shots, only two were on target. The home team also had 7 corners, but failed to capitalize on them.
Millwall, on the other hand, demonstrated effectiveness with a more direct approach. With 32% possession, the “Lions” managed to generate 11 shots, five of them on target. The only goal of the match came in the 59th minute, when M. Ivanovic took advantage of an assist from R. Bangura-Williams to beat the home goalkeeper.
The match was tense and hard-fought, evidenced by the high number of fouls committed: 17 by Millwall and 7 by Bristol City. Referee Edward Duckworth cautioned six players in total: five from Millwall (R. Bangura-Williams, J. Cooper, S. Armstrong, Z. Sturge, A. Doughty and T. Ballo) and one from Bristol City.
