Thrilling Draw in Guayaquil Between Barcelona SC and LDU de Quito
Guayaquil, Ecuador – A match full of emotions and controversy was lived at the Estadio Monumental Banco Pichincha between Barcelona SC and LDU de Quito, valid for the sixth round of the Championship Group of the Liga Pro 2025. The match, officiated by Alex Fabricio Cajas Torres, ended in a draw that reflects the parity in the game, although not without controversy.
LDU surprised early with an early goal by F. Cornejo in the 1st minute, planting doubts in the home team. However, Barcelona SC, dominating possession with 62%, persistently sought the rival goal. The yellow insistence found reward in the 45th minute with an own goal by J.W. Cuero Mercado, leveling the score just before halftime.
In the second half, O. Rivero put Barcelona SC ahead in the 70th minute, thanks to an assist from J. Rojas. Just when it seemed that the home team was taking the victory, L. Pastran, in the 79th minute, tied the game with a goal that silenced the stadium.
