Kosovo Impresses in Ljubljana Despite Draw with Slovenia
Ljubljana, November 15, 2025 – In a vibrant and intense match held at the Stozice Stadium, Kosovo and Slovenia drew in a game corresponding to the group stage of the European qualification for the World Cup. French referee Clement Turpin had a busy night, marked by crucial decisions that impacted the development of the game.
Kosovo struck first in the 6th minute thanks to a goal by F. Asllani, after an excellent assist from M. Vojvoda. The visiting team showed solidity and control in the first half. However, the second half turned dramatic for Slovenia. The expulsion of P. Stojanovic in the 53rd minute, after receiving two consecutive yellow cards, left the home team with ten men and further complicated their aspirations.
Despite being outnumbered, Slovenia fought tirelessly and found a breather in the 64th minute with an own goal by Z. Karnicnik, provoked by an offensive play and assist from F. Muslija, leveling the score.
The match continued to be fiercely contested until the end, with both teams looking for the winning goal. Kosovo, with 49% possession and 13 shots, 7 of them on target, was more incisive in attack, generating 7 corners. Slovenia, with 51% possession, tried to control the pace of the game, but their 6 shots (2 on target) were not enough to overcome the Kosovar defense. The match ended in a draw that leaves a bittersweet taste for both teams.
