Thrilling Match in Craiova Ends in Draw Amidst Rising Tension
Craiova, Romania – In a match played at Stadionul Ion Oblemenco, Universitatea Craiova and Uta Arad drew in an encounter full of intensity and controversy. Despite Craiova’s overwhelming dominance in ball possession (72%), Uta Arad capitalized on their opportunities.
The score was opened in the 24th minute with a goal by L. Mihai for Uta Arad, thanks to a well-crafted play. However, Universitatea Craiova responded in the 36th minute with a goal by O. Romanchuk, assisted by D. Matei, leveling the score.
The second half was marked by a series of cautions. D. Hrezdac from Uta Arad and C. Mora from Craiova received yellow cards in the 52nd minute. Despite the constant pressure from Craiova, Uta Arad took the lead again in the 76th minute with a goal by V. Costache, assisted by A. Roman.
Tension increased considerably in the final minutes. A. Cicaldau from Universitatea Craiova received two yellow cards, at 72′ and 79′, resulting in his expulsion. Subsequently, S. Nsimba (73′) and Cicaldau himself (79′) were shown yellow cards. A. Gorcea from Uta Arad was also cautioned in the 89th minute.
Despite the numerical advantage and the wide ball dominance (21 total shots versus 5 from Uta), Universitatea Craiova failed to convert its advantage into the scoreboard, finishing the match in a draw that left a bittersweet taste for the locals. Uta Arad, on the other hand, takes a valuable away point thanks to their effectiveness and defensive discipline.
