Macará Secures Victory in Hard-Fought Match Against Deportivo Cuenca
Cuenca, Ecuador – In a match filled with emotions and cards, Macará managed to overcome Deportivo Cuenca at the Alejandro Serrano Aguilar stadium. Despite the home team’s dominance in ball possession (61%), Macará capitalized on their opportunities to take all three points.
The first goal of the match came in the 27th minute, thanks to a strike by F. Paz after an assist from M. Ayala. Deportivo Cuenca tried to react, but encountered a solid defense and an effective Macará on the counterattack. The second goal of the game came in the 56th minute, through a penalty converted by A. Ledesma.
Referee Robert Cabrera showed a total of ten yellow cards, six for Macará and four for Deportivo Cuenca, reflecting the intensity of the game. Deportivo Cuenca generated a greater number of shots (19 against Macará’s 7) and corners (13 against 1), but Macará’s effectiveness in front of goal was decisive.
