Querétaro Defeats Mazatlán in a Tense Match
Santiago de Querétaro, November 2, 2025 – Club Querétaro secured an important home victory against Mazatlán in a match corresponding to the 16th round of the Liga MX Apertura. The encounter, played at the Estadio Corregidora, was characterized by intensity and tension, reflected in the high number of yellow cards and one expulsion.
Despite dominating possession with 62%, Mazatlán failed to translate their dominance into goals. Querétaro, with 38% possession, proved effective in front of goal, scoring the only goal of the match in the 58th minute, scored by A. Avila with an assist from P. Barrera.
The match was officiated by referee Yonatan Peinado Aguirre. The referee showed five yellow cards, three to Querétaro players (C. Villanueva, M. A. Carcelen Carabali, A. Zapata) and two to Mazatlán players (A. Leyva, A. Duarte). In addition, he showed a straight red card to Dudu of Mazatlán in the 87th minute, in a match where emotions ran high.
