Racing Club and Flamengo Draw in Tense Buenos Aires Encounter
Buenos Aires, October 30, 2025 – Racing Club and Flamengo faced off in a hard-fought match at the Estadio Presidente Perón, corresponding to the semi-finals of the CONMEBOL Libertadores. The match, refereed by Chilean Piero Maza, ended in a goalless draw.
Racing Club dominated possession with 59%, constantly searching for the opponent’s goal. They generated 19 shots, although only 4 of them were directed on target. The Argentine team also obtained 11 corner kicks, highlighting their offensive pressure. However, the lack of effectiveness in front of goal prevented them from capitalizing on their dominance.
Flamengo, on the other hand, played with one less man from the 56th minute after the red card shown to G. Plata. Despite the numerical inferiority, the Brazilian team defended solidly and looked for opportunities on the counterattack, although they only managed 6 shots, with 2 of them on target. The Brazilian defense remained firm against Racing’s siege.
The match was characterized by intensity, with 12 fouls committed by Racing Club and 4 by Flamengo. The referee showed two yellow cards to Racing Club (F. Mura and M. Rojo) and one to Ayrton Lucas of Flamengo. Plata’s expulsion added drama to an already tense encounter.
