Own Goal Decides Match in Vila Nova de Gaia: Marítimo Victory Against Disciplined FC Porto B
An unfortunate own goal in the 14th minute by R. Da Rocha Borges gave Marítimo the victory in a hard-fought match against FC Porto B at the Estádio Luís Filipe Menezes in Vila Nova de Gaia. The match, corresponding to matchday 8 of the Portuguese Segunda Liga, was marked by strong tactical discipline and a contested game in midfield.
Despite the effort and pressure exerted, FC Porto B failed to reverse the score, also being conditioned by the accumulation of yellow cards (three in total). Marítimo, for its part, also accumulated yellow cards (four) and managed to maintain the advantage obtained thanks to the own goal. Referee Marcos Brazao had an arduous job controlling the intensity of the game. The fans present enjoyed a vibrant match, although the only goal of the match came unexpectedly.
